History

Memorial Hall is part of the CCM village at the University of Cincinnati and provides teaching studios and practice rooms. It began as a dormitory for women and now houses facilities for:

Teaching studios for piano, harpsichord, strings and winds
Over 70 practice rooms
Chamber music rehearsal rooms
CCM2 (Center for Computer Music) studios

Harry Hake built the Memorial Hall building in 1924. The Façade depicts various WWI images. During the CCM village renovation the building was gutted for studios and practice rooms. The rooms were made soundproof with the exception of the doors in order to create a cacophony of sound in the halls to emphasize the practicing and music that occurs at CCM. Many fireplaces and vaulted ceilings were kept in studios.
