Cincinnati Edition: The Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, what are the legal and societal implications?
Cincinnati Edition hosted a panel discussion about the U..S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v Wade and leaving the decision to permit or ban abortion to individual states. UC Law Dean Verna Williams was among the panelists.
The U.S. Supreme Court reversed the landmark ruling Roe v Wade, which guaranteed a federal constitutional right to an abortion, in a 5-4 ruling. The decision to permit or ban abortion now lies with individual states. WVXU’s Cincinnati Edition hosted a discussion about the decision with panelist Pro Choice Ohio Deputy Director Jaime Miracle; Right to Life of Greater Cincinnati Executive Director Laura Strietmann; UC Law Dean Verna Williams; and Danielle Bessett, PhD, UC associate professor of sociology and Ohio Policy Evaluation Network co-principal investigator.
