UC's only remaining 19th century building underwent a massive restoration that involved adding a glass dome and coring the first floor to allow views of the skylight from all levels. The project also involved preserving and restoring marble stairwells, adding new granite steps at the entrance and preserving elaborate wall and ceiling ornamentation.
